Intermediate Automation Engineer

About the role

Inspired Testing is seeking an Intermediate Automation Engineer to join its growing Quality Engineering team in Johannesburg. You will help design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions that enable faster, higher‑quality software delivery for our global clients.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in backlog creation, analyse the Application Under Test (AUT), and perform impact assessments.
• Execute automation scripts within a CI/CD pipeline and develop new scripts using C# and Java.
• Utilise Selenium, Appium, and RestAssured/RestSharp for functional and API testing.
• Manage own tasks, report progress, and support peers in debugging technical challenges.
• Design and implement object‑oriented programming concepts in automation projects following Inspired Testing standards.
• Enhance existing frameworks by adding classes and pages, contributing to framework maintenance.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automation scripts.
• Provide mentoring, troubleshoot issues, and guide team members.
• Participate in code reviews, merge pull requests, and resolve code conflicts.

Required profile

• Advanced knowledge of OOP principles applied to automation.
• Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to mentor peers, troubleshoot complex issues, and influence project direction.
• Proficiency in code review processes and resolving merge conflicts.
• Understanding of tools such as Git, Selenium, Appium, and unit‑testing frameworks (NUnit, XUnit, JUnit).
• Basic knowledge of programming languages including C#, Java, Python, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with automation framework concepts and their practical application.
• Collaboration with senior engineers to ensure code quality through reviews.
