Integration Support Engineer – APIs & SQL

About the role

An established South African enterprise software business serving international customers is looking for an Integration Support Engineer in Somerset West. The role suits an experienced application or technical support engineer who enjoys troubleshooting APIs, SQL, data and how business systems communicate. You will help customers keep their integrations running reliably, investigating issues across an enterprise integration and automation platform, connectors and customer solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose workflow failures, connector errors, authentication problems, data mismatches and connectivity issues.
• Analyse logs, execution traces and reproducible test cases to find root causes.
• Use SQL, Postman and Bash or PowerShell to investigate data and reproduce API behaviour.
• Troubleshoot integrations involving multiple applications and databases, and distinguish platform defects, configuration issues and upstream/downstream failures.
• Escalate complex problems with clear technical evidence, reproduction steps and business impact.
• Work with engineering and solution delivery teams to test fixes and verify solutions end-to-end.
• Help customers understand integration behaviour, error handling, retries and data validation.
• Maintain case records, troubleshooting guides and knowledge-base documentation, and identify recurring issues.
• Use AI-assisted tools to support investigation and documentation while protecting customer information and credentials.

Required profile

• Ideally 2+ years of experience in application support, technical support or integration support, or SaaS/enterprise software support.
• Natural troubleshooting mindset: gather evidence, reproduce the problem, test causes, find the root cause, implement or escalate the solution and verify the result.
• Clear communication, ownership of cases and close collaboration with engineers, solution engineers and architects.
• A relevant IT degree or diploma is advantageous; strong practical experience is also considered.

Required skills

• SQL (strongly preferred), REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, authentication.
• Postman or similar tools, Bash or PowerShell.
• Advantageous: iPaaS or enterprise integration platforms, ERP, CRM, finance or eCommerce apps, Azure, webhooks, OAuth 2.0, SOAP/XML, network diagnostics, application monitoring, ConnectWise Manage or similar ticketing platforms, API test collections.

The role is permanent and hybrid, paid R40,000 to R60,000 CTC per month. Applications are submitted through the listing and reviewed by the Chosen Online recruitment team.
