Instrumentation Technician – Rietvlei

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join a leading manufacturing engineering team in Rietvlei, Gauteng. The role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting and improving instrumentation, process control and automation systems to support plant reliability and production efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair instrumentation, process control and automation equipment.
• Perform planned and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Conduct fault finding on PLCs, HMI/SCADA, VSDs and related instrumentation.
• Support robotics, motion‑control and industrial networking systems.
• Assist with electrical fault finding and panel assembly up to 525 V.
• Maintain process control software and manage critical spares.
• Provide technical support to production teams.
• Drive continuous‑improvement and plant‑reliability initiatives.
• Supervise sub‑ordinates, ensuring safe and efficient work execution.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) with an instrumentation‑related trade qualification (minimum T2 or N5).
• At least 5 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician or in a similar role.
• Background in manufacturing or industrial production environments.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

• Variable Speed Drive (VSD) knowledge.
