Instrumentation Artisan – Installation, Commissioning & Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Instrumentation Artisan to install, commission, maintain and calibrate instrumentation and control systems on our construction sites. The role involves working with electro‑pneumatic, electro‑mechanical and electronic instruments to ensure safe and efficient operation of machinery and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Install, remove and commission instrumentation equipment according to manufacturer specifications and plant standards.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in instrumentation, PLC/SCADA/Stardom, Profibus and fibre‑optic networks using diagnostic tools.
• Test and commission systems to verify correct functionality.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on existing instrumentation.
• Communicate with tradespeople and stakeholders, escalating issues to the site supervisor.
• Adhere to safety regulations when working with electrical, mechanical and pneumatic equipment.
• Manage movement of equipment from OEMs/distributors to the site and support maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Matric and N3 with Mathematics & Science, plus NQF 4 Red Seal Instrument trade test certificate.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a qualified artisan in heavy electro‑chemical and process control industry.
• Valid Code 10 driver’s licence and own tools and testing instruments.
