Industrial Site Ambulance Emergency Assistant (Steelpoort)

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking an Industrial Site Base Ambulance Emergency Assistant to respond to emergency calls at the Glencore Marefe Steelpoort site in Limpopo. The role involves delivering medical care on‑site in accordance with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) scope of practice and maintaining readiness for emergencies. Appointment is contingent on successful completion of physical fitness and medical assessments, and all candidates will be evaluated in line with Mediclinic’s Employment Equity Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls.
• Administer patient care within the defined scope of practice.
• Provide professional emergency services to site‑based clients.

Required profile

• Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or a higher certificate in emergency medical care.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in emergency medical services (EMS); 1 year experience in industrial site (ILS) is desirable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
• Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation (OSH Act, Mine Health and Safety Act) and risk management.
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal) and completion of patient report forms.
