ICU Unit Manager

About the role

Crestcare is seeking an experienced ICU Unit Manager to lead the Intensive Care Unit at its Bryanston facility. You will be responsible for delivering safe, high‑quality nursing care to critically ill patients while overseeing the unit’s clinical, operational, and people‑management functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the ICU nursing team to ensure evidence‑based patient care.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations, including resource allocation and staffing.
• Maintain compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and infection‑control protocols.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and staff performance.
• Oversee emergency procedures and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Post‑basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing (essential).
• Post‑basic qualification in Nursing Administration or Management (advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years nursing experience, including 2–3 years in ICU leadership or unit management.
• Strong knowledge of critical‑care principles, mechanical ventilation, haemodynamic monitoring, infection prevention, and emergency procedures.
• Experience in staff management, quality improvement, resource planning, and operational oversight.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with hospital information systems.
