Pharmacist – Retail Pharmacy (Umlazi)

About the role

Ensure efficient operation of the dispensary and deliver high standards of pharmaceutical care to meet sales, compliance and customer‑service targets for Clicks in Umlazi.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately dispense medicines, perform generic substitution and provide professional counselling in line with SAPC regulations.
• Manage stock, control shrinkage and maintain safe, compliant inventory levels.
• Oversee day‑to‑day dispensary activities, including housekeeping, administration and merchandising.
• Train and develop Pharmacist Assistants and Interns to meet SAPC competency requirements.
• Drive customer‑service initiatives, loyalty programmes and club‑card participation.
• Collaborate with centre managers, suppliers and distribution centres to achieve business objectives.

Required profile

• Registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Retail pharmacy experience is desirable.
• Ability to meet dispensary and clinic performance targets.
• Strong interpersonal and coaching abilities.

• SAPC legal and regulatory knowledge.
• Stock, cost, risk and compliance management expertise.
• Patient care and professional counselling competence.
• Computer literacy and basic pharmacy software use.
• Financial acumen for budgeting and cost control.
