Human Resources Practitioner

About the role

The President Hotel is seeking a Human Resources Practitioner to join its People and Culture team. This hands‑on HR generalist role offers exposure across the full employee lifecycle in a dynamic, luxury‑focused hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, selection and onboarding from vacancy to appointment.
• Draft job advertisements, screen applications and arrange interviews with relevant departments.
• Conduct reference, criminal and background checks; prepare offer letters and employment contracts.
• Maintain vacancy records, recruitment trackers and support Employment Equity objectives.
• Facilitate new‑employee induction, ensuring completion of onboarding documentation and access requirements.
• Monitor probation periods and support employee relations, wellbeing, engagement and organisational culture initiatives.
• Assist with HR administration, compliance and South African labour legislation matters.

Required profile

• Experienced HR professional with a strong people‑focused mindset.
• Hands‑on generalist who enjoys close interaction with hotel operations.
• Knowledge of South African labour law and Employment Equity processes.
• Ability to build relationships across multiple hotel departments.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and capable of managing multiple HR functions simultaneously.
