Human Resources Practitioner (Industrial Relations)

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Human Resources Practitioner to lead the HR function for Grinnell’s security, cleaning and technical teams across multiple sites in South Africa. The role involves full‑cycle employee management in a highly regulated, fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison with multiple trade unions, handling wage negotiations, shop‑steward disputes and preventing unlawful work stoppages.
• Manage end‑to‑end CCMA cases, including preparation of bundles, witness coordination and presentation of legal arguments in line with the LRA, BCEA and sectoral determinations.
• Respond to on‑site incidents by initiating suspensions, drafting disciplinary notices and chairing hearings within statutory timeframes.
• Oversee high‑volume recruitment and vetting for PSIRA‑registered security guards, SABS‑compliant cleaners and technical installers, ensuring criminal record checks and polygraph testing are completed.
• Maintain compliance with PSIRA, SASA Gold and SASSETA standards, and coordinate random polygraph testing schedules.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of South African labour law and experience representing employers at the CCMA.
• Proven ability to manage aggressive union environments and resolve industrial disputes.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills under pressure.
• Excellent written communication for drafting disciplinary documentation.
