Human Resources Officer – Payroll & HR Generalist

About the role

The Human Resources Officer will provide end‑to‑end HR and payroll support across the full employee lifecycle for a fast‑growing financial services organisation. This office‑based role in Cape Town requires strong payroll expertise, advanced reporting skills and the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Administer full payroll cycle using Sage 300, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
• Manage payroll inputs such as new hires, terminations, leave, salary changes, bonuses and deductions.
• Maintain employee records and HR systems, supporting day‑to‑day HR administration.
• Oversee leave administration and ensure system accuracy.
• Support onboarding and off‑boarding processes, including benefits enrollment (medical aid, retirement funds, risk benefits).
• Prepare and deliver HR, payroll and headcount reports, including workforce analytics and monthly HR reporting.
• Produce ad‑hoc reports using advanced Excel and support internal/external audit requests.
• Administer BBBEE compliance reporting and liaise with stakeholders on regulatory requirements.
• Participate in HR projects, process improvements and provide ad‑hoc HR and payroll support as needed.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of HR and payroll administration experience.
• Experience within the financial services industry (non‑negotiable).
• Proven BBBEE administration experience.
• Expert‑level proficiency with Sage 300 payroll.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
