Human Resources & Industrial Relations Manager

About the role

The Human Resources and Industrial Relations Manager will own the HR function for Virtuhire's managed client accounts, primarily an outbound sales contact centre of about 85 employees operating on US Eastern hours from Cape Town. This is a hands‑on, high‑autonomy role responsible for end‑to‑end employee relations and disciplinary matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full disciplinary process from incident reporting to final outcome, covering misconduct, attendance, substance use, dishonesty and conduct issues.
• Draft all required documentation, including notices to attend, statements of allegation, evidence bundles, witness packs and chairperson briefs.
• Chair disciplinary hearings in compliance with Schedule 8 of the Labour Relations Act and produce defensible written outcomes.
• Issue precautionary suspension notices, written warnings and final warnings as appropriate.
• Oversee the HR Assistant’s tasks, ensuring proper document dispatch, e‑signature coordination and conflict checks.
• Liaise with external employment counsel, independent chairpersons, the South African accounting partner and the US‑based Financial Controller.
• Collaborate daily with the Sales Director and Head of Sales Enablement through the HR Representative to maintain single‑line accountability.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing employee relations and disciplinary processes in a high‑volume environment.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour law, particularly the Labour Relations Act.
• Ability to work independently with high autonomy and produce high‑quality, defensible documentation.
• Excellent organisational skills to coordinate multiple cases and manage an HR Assistant.
• Effective partnership skills with senior sales and finance stakeholders.
