HR Practitioner – Baking Operations

About the role

The HR Practitioner will provide comprehensive HR support to the Sunshine Bakery unit of RCL Foods in Pietermaritzburg. The role focuses on delivering HR services, ensuring compliance, and supporting the business’s growth in the food manufacturing sector.

Key responsibilities

• Advise line managers on conduct, misconduct, disciplinary and grievance processes and ensure statutory compliance.
• Investigate and process disciplinary cases, grievances and represent the company at the CCMA.
• Manage employee wellness programmes, coordinate clinics and health‑and‑safety initiatives.
• Oversee the full recruitment cycle: process permissions, advertise vacancies on eRecruitment, conduct interviews, extend offers and supervise onboarding.
• Administer probation reviews, performance evaluations, terminations and maintain up‑to‑date job profiles.
• Coach managers on performance management, talent reviews, succession planning and employment equity targets.
• Handle housing and site‑specific allocations, including evictions and shop‑steader meetings.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management.
• Valid Code EB driver’s licence and own vehicle for site visits.
• 3–5 years experience as an HR generalist, preferably in manufacturing or food production.
