HR People Partner

About the role

The People Partner provides business‑facing HR advisory support across the employee lifecycle, partnering with managers to implement people initiatives, strengthen employee experience and support organisational effectiveness. Reporting to the Head of HR and based in Newlands, Cape Town, the role works closely with the HR Generalist to deliver guidance and practical support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day HR advice and support to employees throughout the employee lifecycle.
• Build effective relationships with employees and managers, delivering proactive HR support.
• Assist managers in applying HR policies, procedures and best practices, escalating complex matters as needed.
• Offer insights and recommendations to improve people decision‑making and identify workforce trends.
• Support organisational change initiatives through clear communication and employee engagement.
• Promote a positive, values‑aligned employee experience across the organisation.
• Implement employee wellness, engagement and culture initiatives in collaboration with the HR team.
• Champion employee assistance programmes, recognition and culture‑building activities.
• Act as a feedback channel between employees, managers and HR.
• Support diversity and inclusion initiatives and contribute to employee experience improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology, Human Resources Management or a related field.
• Minimum four years of relevant HR experience in advisory, partnering or generalist capacity.
• Experience delivering employee engagement and wellness initiatives.
• Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation.
• Experience with HR information systems, preferably Sage People or equivalent.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Preferred: Honours or postgraduate qualification, psychometric assessment certification, Sage HRIS certification.
