HR Generalist – Recruitment & Payroll (Cape Town)

About the role

We are seeking an HR Generalist to support a hospitality client in Foreshore, Cape Town. The role will manage HR, recruitment, and payroll for up to 70 employees, ensuring compliance with South African employment legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update employee records, HR databases and files in line with legislative requirements.
• Handle employee queries and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.
• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and off‑boarding processes.
• Administer employee benefits, manage leave records and track attendance.
• Organise training sessions and compile compliance documentation.
• Support performance review and appraisal cycles.
• Prepare HR reports, letters, contracts and notices.
• Process monthly payroll for 70 staff using Sage Business Cloud Payroll, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, allowances and deductions.
• Manage leave, overtime and other payroll inputs while ensuring statutory compliance.
• Resolve payroll‑related queries and maintain accurate payroll records.

Required profile

• Human Resources qualification (certificate or diploma) – an advantage.
• 3‑4 years of overall HR and payroll experience.
• Experience in HR coordination and management.
• Minimum 2‑3 years using Sage Business Cloud Payroll Professional.
• Familiarity with Employment Equity reporting and skills development.
• Strong understanding of employment legislation and payroll compliance.
