HR Consultant – Johannesburg

About the role

As an HR Consultant you will partner with a diverse portfolio of clients across South Africa, delivering practical, people‑focused HR solutions that align with business objectives and strengthen Employee Value Propositions. This client‑facing role blends strong HR expertise with a hands‑on consulting approach, offering exposure to multiple industries while developing your consulting skill set.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on HR best practices, policies, procedures and relevant South African legislation.
• Conduct HR audits, diagnostic assessments and identify gaps, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Create HR plans, action logs and monitor progress on client accounts.
• Develop and co‑create practical HR solutions, client reports, recommendations and implementation plans.
• Facilitate client meetings, workshops and presentations.
• Provide compliance support for Employment Equity, Workplace Skills Plans and other statutory requirements.
• Support implementation of HR policies, processes, systems and talent‑management initiatives.
• Assist with performance management, disciplinary and grievance processes.
• Research and interpret labour legislation and emerging HR trends to inform client advice.
• Contribute to business development, client relationship management and organisational change initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Human Resources or a related field (minimum).
• 3–5 years proven experience as an HR Consultant, Generalist or HR Business Partner.
• Consulting exposure in project or client‑facing environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• In‑depth knowledge of South African labour legislation.
• Ability to work independently and thrive in a dynamic, high‑pace team.
