Hospital Pharmacist – Pharmacy Department

About the role

Under the general supervision of the Medical Superintendent, the pharmacist will lead the pharmacy department, manage procurement, storage, and distribution of medicines, and ensure compliance with national pharmacy regulations. The role also involves preparing regular reports and supporting rational use of medicines across the hospital and affiliated health facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the pharmacy department.
• Order medicines and supplies, maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Coordinate medicines inventory management and resolve discrepancies.
• Conduct supportive supervision of user departments and peripheral health facilities to improve rational use, storage, and dispensing practices.
• Strengthen storage standards and maintain optimal environmental conditions for medicines.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly pharmacy reports for management and clinical meetings.
• Supervise pharmacy department staff and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Pharmacy degree.
• Valid retention certificate from the Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council.
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist.
