Hospital Manager

About the role

A vacancy has arisen for a Hospital Manager at Life Paarl Valley Hospital, reporting to the General Manager – Coast West. The role is responsible for meeting the needs of internal and external customers by executing Life Healthcare’s strategic and operational objectives in growth, quality, and people.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a marketing strategy aligned with the LHC business plan, addressing target market needs and competitor actions.
• Prepare, monitor and manage annual budgets, capex projects, revenue, cost of sales, overheads, EBITDA and working capital, applying root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Drive optimal hospital operations, identify gaps and risks, maintain quality patient‑care standards and manage relationships with doctors.
• Lead doctor attraction and retention, participate in the Medical Advisory Committee and oversee quality systems, including ISO certification and complaints management.
• Demonstrate visible leadership, sponsor LHC initiatives, manage the hospital MANCO and inspire positive work behaviour.
• Recruit, retain, motivate and develop staff in line with LHC people policies, ensuring effective governance and risk management.

Required profile

• Relevant business or healthcare degree (post‑graduate qualification advantageous).
• Proven leadership and general business management experience, including financial management and business planning, within a healthcare or services environment.
• Knowledge of the private healthcare industry, its challenges, key players and relevant legislation.
• Basic understanding of medical specialisation fields, terminology and equipment, and computer proficiency.
