Hospital Clerk – Civic Services (Paarl Hospital)

About the role

The Department of Home Affairs is seeking a diligent Hospital Clerk to manage civil registration services at Paarl Hospital. The role involves processing birth and death notifications, ensuring accurate data entry, and maintaining compliance with departmental policies.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process birth notifications, verify informants, capture data on the National Population Register and issue birth certificates.
• Receive and process death notifications, verify informants, capture data, and issue death certificates.
• Maintain accurate registers of births and deaths, safeguard official documents and stamps, and report equipment issues.
• Monitor compliance with departmental legislation, Batho Pele principles and health & safety regulations, and report risks.

Required profile

• National Certificate in Home Affairs Services (NQF level 5) or equivalent.
• Understanding of departmental legislation, public service regulatory framework and Batho Pele principles.
• Computer literacy, planning, problem‑solving and strong communication skills.
• Attention to detail, teamwork, record‑keeping and time‑management abilities.
• Driver’s licence is an advantage.
