Health & Safety Officer – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

Join Schneider Electric as a Health & Safety Officer and become the safety champion for project teams and clients across South Africa. You will ensure every worksite complies with the highest HSE standards, supporting both front‑office and back‑office functions.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation and maintenance of Schneider Electric HSE programs and procedures.
• Provide HSE support to GSC, Solutions, Services, Front Office and Back Office activities.
• Assist projects with HSE compliance, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
• Manage contractor compliance, training, and certification.
• Review HSE documentation against internal, legal and customer requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and HSE assessments.
• Support incident reporting, investigations and follow‑up actions.
• Deliver HSE awareness sessions and promote a positive safety culture.
• Monitor contractor compliance and support HSE reporting, data analysis and performance tracking.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management or related field (NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, etc.).
• Registered with SACPCMP as a Safety Officer or eligible for registration.
• 3–5 years of experience in an HSE/Safety Officer role.
• Experience implementing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
• Knowledge of South African HSE legislation and industry best practices.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and administrative abilities.
