Health and Safety Consultant – Johannesburg

About the role

Labournet is seeking a Health and Safety Consultant to join its Gqeberha branch, supporting clients across the construction sector in South Africa. The role involves guiding organisations through the implementation of robust occupational health and safety management systems and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice to ensure compliance with OHS legislation (OHS Act, COIDA, SANS, SABS) and mitigate operational risks.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans for each client, including policies, risk assessments, safe work procedures and emergency response plans.
• Conduct safety audits, incident investigations and prepare comprehensive reports for management.
• Deliver training, up‑skill client staff to perform monthly inspections and facilitate safety committees.
• Prepare and present project‑specific safety documentation and OHS inductions.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (NQF5) with an accredited OHS certificate.
• 1‑2 years of experience in health and safety consulting, preferably within construction.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
• Strong customer‑first mindset and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
