Head of Human Resources – Hotel (Cape Town)

About the role

The Vineyard Hotel in Newlands, Cape Town is seeking an experienced Head of Human Resources to lead its HR function. Reporting to the General Manager, you will shape people strategy, drive employee engagement and ensure compliance with South African labour legislation while supporting the hotel’s commitment to sustainability and service excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a people strategy aligned with business objectives and a positive employee experience.
• Strengthen leadership, talent and organisational capability to meet current and future needs.
• Foster a high-performance, service-driven culture that promotes employee wellbeing and alignment with the hotel’s values.
• Oversee workforce planning, staffing efficiency and labour productivity to support operational excellence.
• Lead employment equity, transformation initiatives and ensure compliance with labour legislation.
• Manage HR operations, systems and continuous improvement using data-driven insights.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification at NQF Level 7 or higher in Human Resources or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in HR management leading a team of specialists in a medium-sized organisation.
• Proven experience in employee relations, employment equity, organisational development, talent management and HR operations.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practices.
• Excellent business partnering, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• South African citizenship.

• Proficiency with HR information systems and the ability to analyse people data for decision-making.
