Head of Finance

About the role

The Head of Finance will lead end‑to‑end financial management for a group of companies, overseeing financial operations, planning, reporting and statutory compliance. This 12‑month fixed‑term role is based in Midrand and reports directly to the Managing Director and Executive Committee.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain financial forecasts, incorporating inputs from all executives and aligning with the business strategy.
• Oversee general accounting functions including payroll, tax, month‑end and year‑end close, and ensure a robust control environment.
• Manage working capital, cash flow and treasury activities to optimise liquidity.
• Lead statutory reporting, annual financial statements and coordination with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, group policies and CIPC deadlines.
• Drive technical accounting projects such as IFRS15 implementation.
• Consolidate financial results across the group and provide management reporting to the MD & Exco.

Required profile

• B.Com Accounting honours degree or CA(SA) (or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years of financial management experience, preferably in a public‑enterprise environment.
• At least 5 years of senior leadership experience with a strong governance focus.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen, analytical ability and effective communication skills.
• Experience in the ICT industry is an advantage.
