Half-Day Bookkeeper

About the role

A half-day, office-based bookkeeping position in Durbanville, working from 08h00 to 13h30. It reports directly to the Managing Director and focuses on accurate, efficient and independent bookkeeping, keeping ledgers intact and trial balances ready for the Annual Financial Statements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complete bookkeeping up to trial balance using Sage Pastel Partner Accounting
• Post and reconcile bank transactions and petty cash accounts
• Prepare and reconcile debtor and creditor accounts
• Maintain and update fixed asset registers
• Prepare and balance regular bank reconciliations
• Ensure strict adherence to statutory VAT regulations
• Prepare and submit VAT and PAYE returns via SARS e-filing, and COIDA returns
• Process monthly payroll using Pastel Payroll
• Handle SARS registrations and update company details as required
• File CIPC annual returns and manage beneficial ownership reporting

Required profile

• Recently qualified degree or diploma in accounting, or at least 3 years of relevant bookkeeping experience
• Ability to work independently, efficiently and accurately
• Capability to process and reconcile balance sheet accounts up to trial balance ready for AFS preparation
