Guesthouse Manager / Kitchen Manager

About the role

A private employer in George, South Africa is looking for a person to run both the guesthouse and the kitchen. The role covers guest services, food production and staff coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Guesthouse management: oversee daily operations, handle enquiries, bookings, check-ins and check-outs, and deal professionally with requests, complaints and queries.
• Keep guest rooms, communal areas and facilities clean, presentable and well maintained.
• Kitchen management: oversee food preparation, cooking and presentation, plan menus and help with meal preparation.
• Manage food stock, inventory, ordering and suppliers, and monitor food costs, portion control and wastage.
• Supervise and coordinate staff, prepare schedules, allocate responsibilities and train and motivate employees.

Required profile

• Previous experience in guesthouse, lodge, hotel or hospitality management.
• Proven experience in kitchen management, food preparation or catering.
• Reliable, professional and able to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Leadership and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of food safety, kitchen hygiene and stock control.
• Hands-on ability to manage several operational responsibilities at once.
