Group Operational Asset Lifecycle Manager

About the role

HeliosTowers, an independent telecoms infrastructure company with a large tower portfolio across Africa and the Middle East, is looking for a Group Operational Asset Lifecycle Manager. Reporting into the Operations & Performance Engineering function, you will develop, govern and improve Group operational asset lifecycle strategies for telecommunications infrastructure assets, working with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Procurement, IT and Maintenance partners. The role is based in the UAE or South Africa, with travel of approximately 6-12 times per year.

Key responsibilities

• Develop Group lifecycle and governance strategies for power systems, shelters and associated infrastructure.
• Prepare and implement long-term asset replacement, refurbishment and renewal plans, and govern asset refurbishment programmes across operating companies.
• Improve preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies to strengthen reliability and extend asset life.
• Optimise total cost of ownership, return on invested capital and asset utilisation through lifecycle investment decisions.
• Own the Group Asset Change Governance process for engineering modifications, integrations, transfers, refurbishments, relocations and disposals.
• Establish and improve the Group Asset Governance Framework, including ownership, approval authorities, engineering acceptance and retirement controls.
• Develop the annual maintenance CAPEX programme and prioritise work by asset condition, criticality and operational risk.
• Monitor and report asset health, reliability, utilisation and effectiveness, and govern asset information standards and data quality across Group systems.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Business, Asset Management or a related technical discipline.
• 7-10 years' experience in telecommunications infrastructure or another asset-intensive industry.
• At least five years leading asset management, asset governance or engineering lifecycle management in a multi-site environment.
• Background in telecommunications infrastructure, power systems or utilities.

Required skills

• Enterprise asset management (EAM), lifecycle costing, asset master data governance and engineering change control.
• Digital asset management, asset analytics and data-driven lifecycle decisions.
• Desired: ISO 55001, IAM, CAMA, CMRP, PMP or PRINCE2, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
