General Workers – Municipal Services (Sasolburg, Deneysville & Oranjeville)

About the role

The Municipality is seeking general workers to support a range of municipal services across Sasolburg, Deneysville and Oranjeville. The role involves routine maintenance, waste collection, sanitation and basic water network duties for a three‑year period.

Key responsibilities

• Execute works orders using provided tools and equipment.
• Maintain flower gardens, prune trees and install warning signs.
• Perform inventory checks, clean vehicles and equipment.
• Collect refuse from dwellings, streets, businesses and open spaces, and load it onto rubbish trucks.
• Provide sanitation services including night‑soil collection, pit replacement and drain clearing.
• Assist with water network maintenance, repair burst pipes and address valve leakages.
• Carry out general road and construction maintenance such as mixing materials, erecting signs and cleaning work sites.
• Identify unsafe conditions and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.

Required profile

• Basic literacy; Grade 10 qualification is an advantage.
• At least one year of relevant experience.
• Physically fit, able to pass a fitness test and medical check‑up.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions, outside normal hours and overtime.
• Competencies in communication, workplace safety and service‑delivery orientation.

What we offer

• Salary range: R128,924.91 – R131,757.44 per year (post level 17).
• Fixed‑term contract for three years.
