General Workers – Municipal Services (3-year contract)

About the role

Metsimaholo Local Municipality is seeking qualified general workers for a three‑year contract (May 2026 – April 2029) across Sasolburg, Deneysville and Oranjeville. The role involves a variety of manual tasks such as maintenance, sanitation, waste collection and water‑network support.

Key responsibilities

• Execute work orders using dedicated tools for tasks like tree pruning, garden maintenance and general labour.
• Collect and transport refuse from dwellings, businesses and public spaces, and maintain waste‑collection vehicles.
• Provide sanitation services including night‑soil collection, drain clearing and sewer‑network maintenance.
• Assist with water‑network duties such as repairing burst pipes, installing meters and fixing valve leakages.
• Perform general road and construction maintenance, including material mixing, sign erection and surface preparation.
• Maintain inventory of tools and equipment, conduct cleaning of vehicles, workshops and work sites.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, use safety equipment and ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Support supervisors with any related duties as instructed.

Required profile

• Basic literacy; Grade 10 qualification is an advantage.
• At least one year of relevant manual‑labour experience.
• Physically fit and able to pass a general fitness test and medical check‑up.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and outside normal hours, including overtime.
• Good communication skills and a service‑delivery orientation.
