About the role
The Hantam Local Municipality is recruiting twelve general workers to support the maintenance and operation of municipal infrastructure across Calvinia and surrounding areas. The role involves a variety of labour‑intensive tasks to ensure cleanliness, functionality and safety of public services.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and install municipal water reticulation and sewerage networks, including connections and manholes.
- Carry out road, storm‑water and drainage infrastructure maintenance and repairs.
- Perform sanitary duties such as waste collection, street cleaning, and cleaning of public toilets.
- Maintain municipal gardens, lawns, trees and irrigation systems.
- Care for, store and clean safety clothing, tools, equipment and vehicles used in the above activities.
Required profile
- Basic literacy.
- 0–1 year of relevant experience.
- Functional competencies: managing work, workplace safety, task accountability, quality orientation, oral communication.
