Elevator and Escalator Maintenance Technician

About the role

KONE is looking for a service-minded Maintenance Technician in Cape Town, South Africa. The team provides on-site customer service to keep equipment running smoothly and safely, and the technician delivers professional elevator and escalator maintenance. The role focuses on quality service, equipment safety and performance, and proactive communication with customers and users.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality service and keep customers satisfied through regular, proactive and precise on-site communication.
• Report work done accurately and in real time.
• Maintain good relationships with customers, the on-site contact person and end-users.
• Manage the site environment during service operations.
• Identify site risks and report them promptly.
• Carry out unplanned service repairs based on equipment needs, after contacting the on-site contact person and getting their approval if not covered by the contract.
• Manage parts and stock levels (shelving, inventory, stock transfers) and issue replenishment orders on time.
• Submit time sheets based on work executed.

Required profile

• One of the following: Red seal trade test certificate (lift mechanic), or NQF level 4 certification with an apprenticeship (minimum 4 years).
• Or an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer diploma or degree with at least 12 months of shadowing a competent lift mechanic.
• Or NQF level 5 certification with at least 12 months of shadowing a competent lift mechanic.
