General Manager

About the role

1-grid is a South African web hosting and cloud solutions business based in Cape Town, supporting entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized businesses with domains, web hosting, email, security and related digital services. The General Manager is accountable for the overall performance of the business, leading strategy, commercial delivery and day-to-day execution. The role works directly with the Company Head and through departmental leaders, covering Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience and Support, Technology and Infrastructure, Finance and Human Resources. It is an in-office, full-time position in Cape Town, not remote or hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end performance of the business, set annual and quarterly priorities and turn company direction into clear goals
• Develop and execute strategies that strengthen revenue, profitability and market competitiveness
• Drive revenue growth, customer acquisition and retention, and explore new hosting, cloud and managed service offerings
• Work with Finance on budgets, forecasts, pricing, margins and cost control, and with HR on workforce planning, performance and succession
• Monitor KPIs, oversee service delivery and operational risks, and promote automation and process improvement
• Represent the business with customers, suppliers and partners where senior leadership is involved
• Build and develop a leadership team, coach managers and partner with HR on recruitment and retention
• Ensure compliance with policies, legal obligations and industry requirements, and escalate material risks to the Company Head
