Gardener

About the role

The Capital Hotels is hiring a full-time permanent Gardener in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The gardener keeps the hotel grounds tidy and resolves maintenance issues quickly, covering security, pools, grounds, hotel rooms and any other areas of the hotel. The role includes general DIY and maintenance, including basic decorating.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure a smooth and consistent resolution to maintenance issues logged during a shift and given verbally.
• Cover security, pools, grounds, hotel rooms and any other area of the hotel.
• Carry out general DIY and maintenance, including basic decorating.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• 1 to 2 years of previous gardening experience.
• Additional qualifications in the field are advantageous (salary dependent).
• Honest and trustworthy, with great attention to detail and a presentable, well-spoken manner.

Required skills

• Hands-on problem solving and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
• Effective communication with staff and guests.
• Proactive, able to handle several tasks at once.
