GALC Facilitator/Assessor - Mechatronics

About the role

AIDC, a government-owned public entity supporting the South African automotive industry, is recruiting a GALC Facilitator/Assessor: Mechatronics in the Skills Development and Training Department. The post is based at the Automotive Supplier Park offices in Rosslyn and Satellite Sites, Gauteng, and reports to the Department Manager: Skills Development & Training. It is a three-year fixed-term contract with a three-month probation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan facilitation and programme implementation, allocate technical skills facilitators and assessors, and liaise with the Training Operations Coordinator on classroom and workshop logistics.
• Deliver training using various methodologies, analyse technical training needs, and work with the Materials Developer to update the technical instructional plan.
• Assess learners at the Gauteng Automotive Learning Centre and other sites using AIDC's technical equipment, complete assessment documentation and give learners objective feedback.
• Mentor candidates, assess facilitators' competence against learning outcomes and manage subordinates, including performance planning, reviews and coaching.
• Evaluate training programmes, record evaluations of training events and prepare inputs for monthly and quarterly reports.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and NQF Level 6 in Mechatronics.
• 4 years plus of related automotive or manufacturing experience.
• Facilitation experience.
• An assessor certificate and registration with a relevant Quality Council (SETA, NAMB or QCTO) are advantageous.

Required skills

• Industrial automation and robotics.
• PLC programming (e.g. Siemens or Festo).
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
