English and Life Orientation Teacher (FET)

About the role

Reddford House Blue Hills, a premium private school in Blue Hills, Kyalami, Midrand, is looking for an English and Life Orientation teacher for its FET phase. The school follows the IEB curriculum and offers a balanced mix of academic, performing and creative arts and sports. The post holder adopts a holistic view of students, promotes their progress and well-being, and creates a positive learning and sports environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and present interesting and engaging lessons.
• Establish a nurturing teaching environment that promotes engaged learning.
• Behave professionally regarding punctuality, standards of work and students' homework.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice, and take part in personal and school-wide professional development.
• Produce high-quality resources for students.
• Respond to e-mails and telephone messages from parents within 24 hours.
• Show loyalty to the school and attend special occasions at the discretion of the Head.
• Set and mark exams and other forms of student evaluation, and write report comments.
• Undertake other reasonable tasks assigned by the School Head or line manager.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the same phase of schooling.
• Previous experience with IEB programmes and in a high-performing international school.
• University degree in an appropriate subject.
• Certified Teaching Status (SACE registered).
• Appropriate right to work.
