Functional Consultant – Microsoft ERP (Finance)

About the role

We are looking for a Functional Consultant to join our Microsoft Business Applications delivery team in Cape Town. The role focuses on delivering Microsoft‑based ERP solutions for finance and operational teams, translating client needs into functional designs and supporting implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with clients to understand current processes, pain points and desired outcomes through discovery sessions and workshops.
• Gather, document and analyse finance‑focused requirements and translate them into ERP configuration and process improvements.
• Assist in solution design, creating functional specifications, process flows and configuration decisions.
• Support implementations, enhancements, upgrades and system changes, including data migration validation and reconciliation.
• Develop and execute functional test plans, support user acceptance testing and resolve issues.
• Deliver user training, prepare guides, training notes and supporting documentation.
• Provide client support during go‑live, stabilisation and post‑implementation phases.
• Contribute to internal documentation, templates, delivery standards and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Background in financial accounting, finance, commerce, business management or information systems.
• Minimum 3 years experience in finance, accounting, ERP support, business analysis or consulting.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management and financial reporting.
• Ability to translate business processes into system requirements.
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Client‑facing attitude with professionalism and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and work in a consulting environment.

Required skills

• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (preferred)
• Microsoft Dynamics NAV (preferred)
• Exposure to other ERP platforms such as Sage, SAP Business One, SYSPRO, NetSuite or Acumatica
• Data migration, validation and reconciliation
• Functional testing and user acceptance testing
• Training delivery and documentation creation
