Front-End Software Developer II (React.js) – 6-Month Contract

About the role

Our client, a leading bank in Sandton, is seeking an experienced Front-End Software Developer II for a six‑month contract. The role focuses on building modern, scalable, high‑performance web applications using React.js within an Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain front‑end applications using React.js and related technologies.
• Implement complex technical components and ensure they are robust, fault‑tolerant, maintainable and reusable.
• Build highly scalable and observable software solutions.
• Estimate development effort and contribute to sprint planning.
• Troubleshoot software issues and provide technical guidance to team members.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation in line with organisational standards.
• Continuously improve software quality, performance and maintainability.
• Develop unit and system test cases and perform comprehensive testing.
• Create and manage deployment artefacts within source control and support application releases.
• Collaborate with Business, Development and Operations teams to optimise development and deployment processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of software development/programming experience.
• Strong expertise in React.js and modern React frameworks such as Next.js and React Router.
• Experience with front‑end state‑management libraries (Redux, Zustand, NGXS).
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, SASS/SCSS and Tailwind CSS (or similar).
• Solid experience with Git/source‑control workflows.
• Understanding of software testing principles and unit testing.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
