Food Service Ambassador

About the role

The Food Service Ambassador will represent Stellenbosch Hotel across all food and beverage outlets, including room service, restaurants, and conference venues. You will create a welcoming atmosphere, guide guests through their dining experience, and ensure every interaction reflects the hotel’s commitment to fairness, respect, and personalized service.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare service areas and set up tables for guests.
• Greet, seat, and attend to guests from arrival to departure.
• Take orders, serve food and beverages, and upsell menu items.
• Maintain knowledge of food, wine, and basic barista offerings.
• Handle guest inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
• Collaborate with kitchen and event teams to meet service targets.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience as a Food Service Ambassador or waiter.
• Previous hotel restaurant experience is advantageous.
• Availability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Strong communication and telephone etiquette.
• Professional appearance, friendly demeanor, and customer‑service focus.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of food and wine.
• Basic barista skills (advantageous).
• Proficiency with the Micros point‑of‑sale system.
