Food & Beverage Manager

About the role

This position leads the food and beverage operations, including banqueting, with a focus on exceptional member and guest service, team development and financial control. It is based in Auckland Park.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily operations and provide hands-on duty manager leadership.
• Recruit, lead, roster, train and develop the food and beverage team, and handle performance and disciplinary matters.
• Build member relationships, maintain service standards and resolve complaints, using feedback to improve service quality.
• Coordinate events, promotions, menus and beverage offerings with the Head Chef and Function Co-ordinators.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, pricing, costs and stock controls to improve profitability.
• Oversee stocktakes, invoice approvals, payroll checks, point-of-sale and tip reconciliation, and reservations.
• Maintain cleanliness, facilities and equipment, and ensure health and safety compliance.
• Develop supplier partnerships and prepare monthly operating reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years' experience managing food and beverage operations, including banqueting or events, supervising service teams and maintaining member or guest service standards.
• Diploma or degree in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management (preferred).
• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.

Required skills

• Team leadership, coaching, communication and problem-solving.
• Planning, rostering, event coordination, budgeting, forecasting, cost control and stock management.
• Supplier negotiation.
• Practical experience with departmental budgets, stocktakes, point-of-sale reconciliation, payroll checks and reservation systems.
