Fixed Asset Accountant – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term (French Speaking)

About the role

The Fixed Asset Accountant will oversee the asset count and tagging process, ensuring that physical inventories align with the ERP system and that the Fixed Assets Register complies with IAS 16 for South Africa and its affiliates. This 12‑month fixed‑term position requires fluency in French and strong knowledge of asset accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the Fixed Assets Register (FAR) by recording all additions, disposals, transfers and write‑offs.
• Prepare month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end asset reconciliations and submit them within SLA.
• Calculate depreciation, DRR provisions, useful lives and residual values in line with IAS 16.
• Produce monthly depreciation forecasts for business units across South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini.
• Support the annual fixed‑asset business plan and re‑estimate where required.
• Monitor physical asset counts, coordinate verification agents and reconcile counts to the ERP.
• Account for motor vehicles and leased assets, ensuring accurate capitalization and timely updates.
• Manage vehicle‑related charges, invoice reconciliation and cost‑centre clearing.
• Log and resolve queries to meet FSSC service‑level agreements.
• Assist internal and external audits and contribute to company‑wide fixed‑asset projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (NQF Level 7) – honours (NQF Level 8) is advantageous.
• Minimum 4 years of finance experience with a focus on fixed‑asset accounting.
• Proven experience in asset count reconciliation in a corporate environment.
• Fluent French language skills.
• Knowledge of IAS 16 property, plant and equipment accounting standards.
