Fitters Manager – Engineering (Epping, Cape Town)

About the role

The Fitters Manager will lead the fitter’s department in a heavy‑industrial plant located in Epping, Cape Town. This senior position is responsible for ensuring optimal equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and supervising a team of mechanical fitters in a high‑pressure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all mechanical maintenance, breakdown response and preventative maintenance activities.
• Manage and develop a team of fitters, ensuring compliance with safety and OHSA regulations.
• Coordinate the use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to schedule and track work.
• Conduct fault‑finding and troubleshooting on complex mechanical equipment.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety, especially for work at heights and confined spaces.

Required profile

• Grade 12 Red Seal Mechanical Fitter qualification.
• Minimum 10 years experience in heavy‑industry mechanical maintenance.
• At least 5 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Physically fit and able to work in heights and confined spaces.
• Valid driver’s licence.
