Financial Manager (Retail / Building & Construction)

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Financial Manager to lead the finance function of a growing supplier of timber, hardware and building materials. The role combines day‑to‑day financial operations with strategic insight, supporting multiple retail stores, a manufacturing depot and a national franchise network.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate daily financial records and oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and consolidated group financial reports by the 7th working day.
• Produce annual financial statements within one month of year‑end and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Develop and monitor annual budgets, cash‑flow forecasts and weekly funding requirements.
• Strengthen internal controls, audit readiness and financial governance across all entities.
• Manage general‑ledger reconciliations, stock‑control reviews and ERP system improvements.
• Support financing discussions and maintain relationships with banks and directors.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Financial Manager or senior finance professional.
• Strong commercial mindset with ability to provide insight for strategic decisions.
• Experience working in retail and/or construction environments is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
