Financial Director – Project Cost Control & Compliance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Director to lead cost control, cash‑flow management and financial compliance across a portfolio of complex contracts. The role sits at the heart of project profitability, partnering closely with operations to safeguard margins on high‑value engineering and construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee job‑costing processes, tracking project budgets, labour hours and material costs to protect profit margins.
• Manage contract billing cycles, including milestone‑based progress billing and retention invoices.
• Monitor project cash inflows and outflows to ensure liquidity for payroll, equipment rentals and sub‑contractors.
• Prepare annual corporate budgets and update forecasts based on active project pipelines.
• Implement and document internal financial policies to mitigate fraud risk and control fleet and inventory accounting.
• Lead year‑end close processes and act as the primary liaison for external auditors and tax authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
• CA(SA) or CIMA designation.
• 10+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in project accounting, engineering or heavy construction.

• Advanced proficiency in financial systems.
