Financial Controller – Johannesburg

About the role

Join a dynamic finance team in Bruma, Johannesburg East, where you will lead financial reporting, ensure compliance, and support strategic decision‑making. This senior position requires a detail‑oriented professional with strong technical accounting expertise and a passion for process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the finance team, managing performance and development.
• Review correction journals, GL allocations, and monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee VAT reconciliations, returns, and assist with SARS objections and appeals.
• Ensure accurate monthly intercompany loan reconciliations.
• Prepare and review management accounts, financial reports, and supporting schedules.
• Coordinate annual audit preparation and liaise with external auditors.
• Analyse variances, manage debtor queries, third‑party invoicing, and bad‑debt assessments.
• Develop and maintain finance policies for VAT, fixed assets, intercompany loans, etc.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline finance processes.
• Support senior finance leadership on strategic and operational matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance role.
• Proven experience managing a team of at least three direct reports.
• Strong financial management, reporting, and analytical abilities.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with MDA software.
