Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will ensure accurate financial reporting, robust controls, and regulatory compliance within a high‑volume POS and payments fintech environment. You will support management decision‑making by delivering timely management accounts and insights.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, journals, accruals and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure revenue recognition aligns with IFRS standards.
• Reconcile POS transactions, merchant settlements and clearing accounts.
• Manage debtors, inventory, fixed assets and chargebacks/refunds.
• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash movements.
• Prepare VAT reconciliations and support tax, audit and regulatory reporting.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
• Drive process improvements and align systems with transactional platforms.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification; SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA advantageous.
• 3–5 years of financial accounting experience, preferably in POS, payments, banking or fintech.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and VAT.
• Demonstrated analytical ability and effective communication skills.
• Behavioral competencies such as planning, customer focus, problem‑solving and adaptability.
