Financial Accountant – Finance Team

About the role

Absolute Pets is a growing pet‑care retailer seeking a Financial Accountant to join its finance team. The role involves accurate recording, reporting and analysis of the company’s financial transactions to support decision‑making and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Process bi‑weekly payment runs, credit‑card top‑ups and manage supplier payments.
• Maintain weekly cashbooks, allocate transactions and reconcile online sales with bank receipts.
• Handle store and online customer refunds, liaising with stores to resolve queries.
• Produce weekly reports on damages, expiries and price changes; prepare monthly accruals.
• Process fleet expenses, eBucks and FNB loan reconciliations.
• Support finance projects such as the Beneficiaries Project and assist with audit preparation.
• Provide general administrative and operational support to the finance department.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of experience in a financial accounting role.
• Diploma or degree in Financial Accounting or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
• Effective communication, strong organisational abilities and deadline‑driven mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
