Finance Digitization & Analytics Analyst (Africa)

About the role

Trafigura is looking for a Finance Digitization & Analytics Analyst based in Johannesburg to act as the embedded business-facing BI, business analysis and automation partner for Finance across the Africa region and GCC. The role owns performance measurement and steady-state automation, turns central digitization initiatives into locally embedded self-service tools, and works directly with regional and country Finance teams to define requirements and solve live business problems. It is a regional build-and-run role focused on BI, analytics and Finance process automation, not data infrastructure ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Work with regional Finance leadership, country teams and stakeholders to identify needs and turn them into practical analytics and automation solutions, clarifying requirements before development starts.
• Take ownership of Finance process automations across Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Controlling, FP&A and other areas once they move to business-as-usual, maintaining and improving them without central involvement.
• Build and maintain BI dashboards end-to-end, refining them as reporting needs evolve.
• Promote self-service analytics tools and reduce reliance on manual, ad hoc reporting requests.
• Partner with central digitization teams on data engineering, security and architecture, and escalate complex technical needs.
• Keep KPI and data definitions aligned with global standards and act as the regional point of contact for Finance data-definition queries.

Required profile

• Typically 5-7 years of experience in BI, analytics engineering, Finance automation or business analysis, with dashboards or tools used in operational and management decisions.
• Working knowledge of core Finance processes (Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Controlling, FP&A); prior exposure to Finance operations, shared services or FP&A is preferred.
• A relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in a multi-country or regional matrix organisation is an advantage.

Required skills

• Hands-on Tableau and/or Sigma, including dashboard development, data modelling, calculated fields and performance optimization.
• Working knowledge of SQL, able to query and shape data directly.
• Working knowledge of data architecture; exposure to Databricks or a comparable modern data platform is an advantage.
