Field Technician – Potable Water Treatment

About the role

We are looking for a practical, solutions‑driven Field Technician to oversee the commissioning, servicing, and day‑to‑day operation of localized potable water treatment systems across commercial, agricultural and community sites in Pretoria and the East Rand.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine servicing, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on multimedia filters, carbon filters, water softeners, dosing pumps and reverse osmosis membranes.
• Commission new package plants and borehole filtration setups and ensure they operate within SANS 241 water‑quality standards.
• Draw field samples, use portable test kits and monitor critical parameters to verify compliance.
• Monitor, replenish and calibrate chemical dosing systems (coagulants, disinfectants, antiscalants).
• Respond promptly to urgent call‑outs for plant breakdowns, pipe leaks or water‑quality issues.
• Provide basic operational feedback and on‑site training to clients or local operators.
• Interact with PLC automation interfaces and telemetry systems.
• Travel extensively throughout the designated region.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of hands‑on experience with potable water purification systems, package plants or water‑bottling facilities.
• National Diploma (N4‑N6) in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent water‑care qualification.
• Valid Code B or C1 driver’s licence and willingness to travel frequently.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including basic wiring, pump repairs and pipe fitting.
