Field Service Technician – Electric Materials Handling Equipment

About the role

This permanent, hands‑on position is based in Durban North and supports a leading materials‑handling and industrial equipment provider. The technician will service, inspect, repair and maintain electric tow tractors, utility vehicles and specialised battery‑powered equipment used in warehouses, hospitals, airports and other industrial sites.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance, safety checks and mechanical repairs on electric handling equipment.
• Replace components such as switches, contactors, solenoids, bearings and brake parts.
• Respond to customer site breakdowns, conduct electrical tests, replace faulty parts and resolve mechanical faults.
• Complete job cards, service reports and inspection notes with accurate documentation.
• Communicate professionally with customers on‑site and maintain tools and equipment responsibly.

Required profile

• General mechanical or electrical experience, preferably in forklift, golf‑cart, utility‑vehicle or automotive electrical environments.
• Basic electrical knowledge and ability to use a multimeter for simple tests.
• Valid driver’s licence and physical ability to perform field service duties.
• N2–N3 electrical or mechanical qualification; full artisan qualification is a strong advantage.
