Executive Reward Consultant (Legal)

About the role
We are looking for a dynamic Executive Reward Consultant (Legal) to join our People and Organisation – Executive Reward & Share Schemes practice in South Africa. The role involves delivering strategic, compliant, market‑leading executive reward solutions and advising organisations on complex remuneration structures.
Key responsibilities
- Draft and review legal documentation for long‑term incentive and share plans, including plan rules and award documents.
- Provide technical and regulatory advice to ensure compliance with the JSE Listings Requirements, Companies Act and other frameworks.
- Develop employee communications for short‑ and long‑term incentive plans.
- Conduct remuneration reviews, benchmarking, gap analysis and deliver practical recommendations to executive teams and remuneration committees.
- Support clients in remuneration reporting and disclosure aligned with King IV principles.
- Monitor institutional investor trends and translate insights into guidance on remuneration design and disclosure.
- Research emerging executive reward trends and advise clients on legal, tax and regulatory implications.
- Draft technical tax opinions on executive remuneration structures, including share schemes and trusts.
- Collaborate with PwC global network firms on cross‑border incentive arrangements.
- Build and maintain strong client and internal relationships, manage engagements and contribute to thought‑leadership publications.
Required profile
- Admitted Attorney (essential).
- BCom LLB, HDip Tax or LLM in Tax/Commercial Law (advantageous).
- 1–3 years post‑article experience in commercial or employment law.
- Exposure to executive reward, incentives or employee benefits is a plus.
Required skills
- Legal documentation drafting for executive reward schemes.
- Regulatory compliance knowledge (JSE Listings Requirements, Companies Act, King IV).
- Technical tax opinion preparation for remuneration structures.
- Remuneration benchmarking and gap analysis.
- Research on legal, tax and regulatory themes affecting executive incentives.
