Equipment Monitoring Specialist – Global Grade 09

About the role

The Equipment Monitoring Specialist will monitor, manage and optimise the health and performance of earthmoving machines across the customer fleet. Based in East London, the role supports customers in East London, Umtata and Gqeberha, ensuring timely inspections, diagnostics and technical interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor machine health using EM solutions and generate reports on downloaded events.
• Forecast and manage undercarriage component replacements, including the Caterpillar Horizon program.
• Conduct on‑site inspections of earthmoving equipment and perform wear analysis of blades and buckets.
• Analyse operational abuse and ensure machines are used to full capability.
• Convert inspections to quotes and quotes to orders, supporting the sales process.
• Evaluate machine operators, applications and site severity to improve performance.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Qualified diesel/earthmoving equipment mechanic (or equivalent).
• Minimum three years of Caterpillar mechanic experience.
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and CAT software.
• Strong business communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
