Enrolled Nurse - Theatre OR

About the role

Ethekwini Hospital and Heart Centre, advertised through Lenmed, is looking for an Enrolled Nurse for its Theatre OR department. The nurse provides direct and/or indirect nursing care to patients and works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and Unit Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care
• Keep the environment therapeutic, clean and safe, free from medico-legal hazards
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients
• Take part in the ward/unit's quality improvement programme
• Attend shift handovers and communicate effectively with patients about their care
• Promote patients' overall health and wellbeing
• Refer patient and doctor complaints to the unit's sister-in-charge
• Complete all departmental duties and delegated tasks on time

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse
• Compliance with the SANC code for Enrolled Nurses and applicable healthcare legislation
• Previous experience in a theatre operating environment is essential
• Two years of nursing experience is an advantage
• Flexibility to work different hours and shifts
